This book cover design was inspired by revered California-based designer Saul Bass. The primary typeface used is an functional, hand-drawn one directly referencing Bass’ famed hand-type style. Steinbeck’s writings are forever linked to California, and this project celebrates two artists who were unafraid to name the taboo. Both creatives helped shape California’s artistic landscape.
